No. 8 VB To Conclude Regular Season At Baden Thanksgiving Tournament
Thursday, November 22, 2007 | Volleyball
The seventh-ranked University of Florida volleyball team will wrap up regular-season play this weekend when it meets Yale on Friday and host team Long Beach State on Saturday at the Baden Thanksgiving Tournament.
Both matches, which are slated to being at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET, respectively, can be heard on WRUF-AM 850. Saturday's match against the 49ers will also be offered on BigWest TV as a pay-per-view event via streaming Internet video at a cost of $4.95. Fans can click here to sign up for the broadcast.
Friday night's match will be the first-ever meeting between Florida and Yale on the volleyball court, as well as the Gators' first clash with an Ivy League team since head coach Mary Wise took the reigns in 1991. UF heads into the contest having swept its last nine matches to mark the team's longest streak since 2005.
One of just four teams in the nation against which Wise doesn't own at least a .500 record, Long Beach State leads the all-time series by a count of 5-3. The schools haven't met since the 1998 national semifinal, when The Beach took a 3-0 win at the Gators' expense en route to winning the national title.
Florida is 13-3 under Wise in regular-season tournaments held in California, and 19-16 overall against teams from the state during her tenure. The Gators own one tournament win this season, claiming the title at their own Campus USA Credit Union Invitational in the early part of the season.
