Kristina Johnson Named to SEC Community Service Team

Junior Florida middle blocker Kristina Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.) has been named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team for her efforts in the community and on the court, the league office in Birmingham, Ala., announced Tuesday.
The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for each of its 20 league-sponsored sports. For the sixth consecutive year, the SEC has looked to highlight a volleyball athlete from each of the conference's 11 members who gives back to her community through superior service efforts.
Johnson has volunteered with the intramural program at Stephen Foster Elementary School and also has assisted at Prairie View Elementary and Howard Bishop Middle School, all in the Gainesville area.
Johnson volunteered at Shands' Medical Plaza and participated in the Climb for Cancer Sports Camp. She volunteered extensively with the P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School's Read Around the Clock program and the Cure for Design Fashion Show. Johnson also has participated in the Generation Connection at Woodlawn Park.
Johnson is a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, who is majoring in family, youth and consumer sciences.
Johnson and the No. 11/10 Gators return to action on Friday when they travel to Fort Collins , Colo., to take on No. 2/2 Stanford. Opening serve in Moby Arena in the NCAA Round of 16 is slated for 9 p.m. EST and the match will be carried live on ROCK 104 with Tom Collett and Missy Whittemore.
