Levine Edged In Second Round Match At Wimbledon

Wimbledon - Former University of Florida men's tennis player Jesse Levine (Boca Raton) was defeated in the second round of singles play of The Championships at Wimbledon on Thursday by Jurgen Melzer (4-6, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1).
Earlier this week, Levine defeated Donald Young in their first-round match (4-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4). Levine, who was making his first career appearance in the singles draw, entered the championships ranked 137th on the ATP list, while Young is 85th.
Levine played for the Gators in the 2006-07 season and turned in one of the finest rookie campaigns in school history as he was named the ITA National Rookie of the Year and the SEC Newcomer of the Year. Levine was the first Gator in over a quarter of a century to go through a season with one-or-less losses in singles play as he posted a 24-1 record (21-0 in dual matches).
