Q: What is a typical day for you like during the week in the regular season?
A: “Usually, we have early classes, so I wake up, go to class and then we have practice beginning at 1 p.m. Then, we go back to class at night. I have a class that goes from 6-9:30 at night. Somewhere in there we're supposed to work out and usually for me, I'm working out at 8 a.m. before class.”
Q: Can you believe that you are finally a senior and how does it feel?
A: “It definitely feels awesome. It's a little bittersweet because I know that it's over after this year, but it's not over yet. It will be fun. It will be a different role and I know Christina Diaz and I are kind of enjoying it.”
Q: You have two freshmen middle blockers this year - Cassandra Anderson and Betsy Smith. What has it been like working with them so far?
A: They're both great players. Cassandra and Betsy are awesome. They both bring different kinds of skills to the table. Cassandra is a great blocker and I'm sure you guys will see that this year. Betsy is good off of one foot. I always thought that her game kind of mirrors my game a lot and I think Cassandra's mirrors KJ's a little bit. They're definitely going to do great this year.”
Q: What do you plan to do once your volleyball career is over?
A: “Good question! I know I want to study abroad because Italian's my minor, so hopefully I'll be doing that this summer. I've finished the LSAT, so hopefully I'll be going to law school after that. I might try to work one to two years before I go to law school.”
Q: How important is it for you to be playing in your hometown in front of friends and family?
A: “It's definitely very important. My parents love coming to all the games and I know they're going to come to probably all of them this year. I always love looking in the crowd and seeing my friends because I can invite them whenever they want to come.”
Q: Besides injuring your back playing with the A2 team this summer, how did you enjoy that experience?
A: “I really enjoyed it. I always like playing for the different coaches and different great players across the country. You kind of learn different things that you can take from their games. I learned a lot and it was definitely fun.”
Q: Coach Wise was quoted as saying that she believes you would do anything she asked of you in order to help the program get better. What inspires you to do that on a daily basis?
A: “I would say that is very much so true. Especially in my last year, I want to help make this the best year ever for both me and our team. I want to give as much as I can to make that happen.”
