Erin Fleming Set To Graduate This Weekend
Friday, December 17, 2010 | Volleyball
Senior Florida libero Erin Fleming (Orlando, Fla.) is one of 33 UF student-athletes set to receive their degrees this weekend in commencement ceremonies being held at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
Fleming, a three-time member of the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Rolls, will receive her bachelor's degree in recreation and event management this weekend.
Fleming, a four-year letterwinner for the Gators, spent her senior season as Florida's starting libero, anchoring the team's back row and its serve-receive efforts in a record-setting season that saw the team hold a No. 1 national ranking in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll for eight consecutive weeks. The 2010 SEC Champion Gators finished the year with a 29-2 overall record and a perfect 20-0 league mark. Florida advanced to the NCAA regional semifinals for the 19th time in the last 20 years and extended the nation's longest streak of consecutive 25-win seasons to 20.
Fleming, who finished her career with 702 digs, ranked eighth in the SEC (all matches combined) with 3.61 digs per set during her senior campaign.
In head coach Mary Wise's 20-year UF career, every player who has played four years and completed her eligibility has earned her undergraduate degree.
