SMU defeats BYU in ITA Kick-Off Consolation Match

The 22nd-ranked SMU women's tennis team defeated No. 67 BYU, 4-1, Monday morning in the consolation match of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend that serves as a feeder into the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
The Mustangs (5-1) won the doubles point with victories on courts two and three, before captured the singles matches at positions No. 3, 4 and 5 to secure the team win against the Cougars (1-3), who prevented the shutout by earning the decision on court No. 6.
The match was supposed to have been played Saturday, but weather forced the postponement until Monday at Linder Stadium at Ring Tennis Complex.
