Shalini Gogawale has been named Coordinator of Volleyball Operations at the University of Florida, head coach Mary Wise announced Monday.
Gogawale will be responsible for all of the behind-the-scenes aspects of the volleyball program, including team travel, NCAA compliance, ordering and distribution of equipment, assisting with recruiting correspondence and campus visits and serving as the volleyball office's liaison to the Gator Attack Club. She also oversees the volleyball budget and supervises the student manager staff and operations assistants.
"I am thrilled to join the Florida family,” Gogawale said. “Coach Wise has developed this program into one of the preeminent, if not the preeminent, volleyball programs in the country.”
Gogawale will also support the coaches administratively and oversee the day-to-day operation of the volleyball office. She will serve as the Director of Camp Operations for the Florida Volleyball Camps that host nearly 1,700 campers each summer.
"We are thrilled Shalini has joined the Gator Volleyball Family,” Wise said. “Her personality, skills, and past experiences will be a great asset to our program."
Prior to her new position with the Gators, Gogawale was the Assistant Director of Basketball Operations for Oregon State women's basketball. She joined the Beaver staff in late 2009 after a stint with the University of California. While in Berkeley, Gogawale worked with the women's basketball team and handled the day-to-day operations of the office, recruiting database, and budget.
The Shorewood, Ill. native has also served as an intern for the NCAA, working in Diversity and Inclusion, where she helped coordinate professional development conferences for student-athletes, coaches, and administrators.
“I feel extremely honored that Coach Wise has given me this incredible opportunity to work with her, the Florida Volleyball program, and one of the top athletic departments in the country,” Gogawale added further. “I look forward to being a part of the Gator Nation."
Gogawale graduated from Southern Illinois University, earning a bachelor's degree in sociology, where she was a member of the cross country and track teams. Upon finishing her degree, she was a recipient of the NCAA Ethnic Minority Postgraduate Scholarship. Gogawale also graduated from UC Berkeley with a master's of arts in education.
Gogawale replaces long-time Coordinator of Volleyball Operations, Kelley Kish, who has accepted a position with the Greyhounds of the University of Indianapolis as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance.
