Gators Strong on Opening Day at Duke Fab Four Invite

The Gators won all four singles matches they played and went 3-1 in doubles action on the opening day of play at the Duke Fab Four Invite held at the Cary Tennis Center on Friday.
Olivia Janowicz (Palm Bay, Fla.), Kourtney Keegan (Roswell, Ga.), Sofie Oyen (Leopoldsburg, Belgium) and Belinda Woolcock (Victoria, Australia) won their respective singles matches in the first event of the season, while the doubles team of Oyen and Woolcock won two rounds to reach the final of the BLACK draw that will be played on Saturday at 9 a.m.
The Gator tandem of Janowicz and Keegan upset Miami's No. 52-ranked pair of Kelsey Laurente and Stephanie Wagner, 8-2, in their debut pairing, but dropped their semifinal match to Alabama's Erin Routliffe and Danielle Spielmann. Janowicz and Keegan will play in the third-place match Saturday at 9 a.m.

“This was the best we've looked in doubles on the first day of the season in my 13 years at Florida. We moved really well. Our communication was excellent and we were a constant threat at the net.
“Maybe we didn't play as well as we could in singles, but we showed grit and played very solid tennis down the stretch. Overall, I'm very pleased with today.”
