Alhassan, Detering & Snyder Taking in Europe at Global Challenge in Croatia

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- USA Volleyball's Collegiate National Team at the World University Games, led by rising junior Alex Holston and Gators' head coach Mary Wise, rattled off three straight wins, including a gutsy five-setter finale against Finland, to cap off competition in Gwangju, South Korea, last week.
But no worries -- while Holston and Wise are back statestide in Gainesville, a trio of Florida rising sophomores are continuing the fun across the pond, Rhamat Alhassan and Carli Snyder with the USA Volleyball Junior National Team and Abby Detering on the BIP Midwest U22 squad, at the European Global Challenge in Pula, Croatia, this week.
With the European Global Challenge, the goal is for the American squads to match up with foreign teams in as many matches as possible. Add a little tour of Europe for the USA Junior National Team -- including stops in Italy and Slovenia on the way -- for valuable life and volleyball experiences.
The U.S. Women's Junior National Team kicked off the 2015 Global Challenge with two matches on Monday, as the Americans took down the Hungarian Junior National Team 25-20, 25-22, 25-12 in their opening match of the day, but lost their second battle to the Italian Junior National Team 25-19, 25-20, 25-27.

At 11:30 a.m. local time (3:30 a.m. ET) on Tuesday, the U.S. WJNT will play BFTM-Falconara Juniors. Team USA will then face SLO at 1:30 p.m. ET for its second match of the day.
