AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 21 University of Florida men's tennis team defeated the No. 20 Texas Longhorns on Saturday, 4-0. No. 49-ranked Elliott Orkin clinched the match victory for the Gators with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over No. 94-ranked Harrison Scott.
For the third time in as many matches, the Gators secured the doubles point on Saturday afternoon. Junior tandem of Orkin and Maxx Lipman defeated Texas's No.2 doubles pairing of George Goldhoff and Julian Zlobinsky, 6-3. Sophomore Chase Perez-Blanco and redshirt sophomore Josh Wardell clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over John Mee and Harrison Scott.
Singles action saw Gator senior Diego Hidalgo cruise to a straight set win over George Goldhoff, 6-2, 6-1. Sophomore Jordan Belga was a late entry into the singles lineup at No. 6, but the Gator came through. The Boca Raton native defeated John Mee, 6-3, 6-2. Orkin would take the match for UF and record his second consecutive match-clinching victory.
With the win, the Gators have secured a place in the qualifying match against No. 15 Texas Tech for a spot in the National Team indoor Championships that will be held in Charlottesville, Va., hosted by reigning National Champions, the Virginia Cavaliers.

"Our guys competed well today. We certainly were not sharp on every court, but we hung in there with good attitudes. We did have a few spots that played very well, but we'll need to pick it up tomorrow. We are really looking forward to the battle."
