
Gators to start third tournament of the fall on Monday

Gainesville, Fla. - The University of Florida women's golf team will begin its third tournament of the fall on Monday, at the Windy City Classic in Evanston, Ill. The Gators will face eight top-30 ranked teams in the field of 14.
Florida finished in fifth at the Annika Classic in Orlando, Fla. last week. Senior Maria Torres finished tied for sixth, and Karolina Vlckova posted a 66 on the last day of the tournament to tie the second-lowest round in program history.
Last year at the Windy City Classic, the Gators finished in eighth place. Maria Torres, Karolina Vlckova and Kelly Grassel are all making their second appearance in the tournament.
Course Information: The tournament is being held at the par-72, 6,338-yard Glen View Club in Evanston, Ill.
Format: 54-hole stroke play where teams will play three rounds over two days
Tee Times:
Monday Rd. 1 – 8:30 a.m.
Monday Rd. 2 – Continuous play from Round 1
Tuesday – 8:30 a.m.
The Gators' Lineup:
Freshman Carlotta Ricolfi (San Remo, Italy): Teed off for the Gators for the first time at the Annika Classic, posting a one-under par score in her first tournament.
Senior Karolina Vlckova (Unhošt, Czech Republic): Carded a 66 third round in the first tournament of her senior season, this tied the second-lowest round in program history.
Senior Maria Torres (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico): Posted three under-par rounds in her first tournament of the 2016-17 season.
Senior Kelly Grassel (Chesterton, Ind.): Tied for fourth at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship, where she fired a 68, one shot off her collegiate best.
Freshman Marta Perez (Valencia, Spain): Recorded three birdies in her final round at the Annika Classic to finish one-under par.

"Northwestern always hosts a great event, and we are excited to be in Chicago. The golf course is excellent, a real test of golf. Tomorrow is a long day being 36 holes. We want to make sure we are making smart decisions and focusing on playing one shot at a time, not getting ahead or behind. The team is excited to compete and we are looking forward to having a great day."
