No. 3 Florida Set for Valentine’s Day Contest with No. 20 Clemson

No. 3 Florida takes on the No. 22 Clemson on Sunday at the Ring Tennis Complex at 1 p.m.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The No. 3 University of Florida women's tennis team is back at the Ring Tennis Complex on Sunday afternoon to host another Top-30 team. The Gators will take on the No. 22 Tigers of Clemson University at 1 p.m.

UF defeated the No. 29 Baylor Bears on Saturday, 4-0. All the details from the victory here. The Gators played their best in doubles on Saturday with two sweeps to clinch the doubles point at No. 1 and No. 3.

Singles action saw the Gators drop seven games in three matches. Sophomores Brooke Austin, Josie Kuhlman and Anna Danilina grabbed singles victories for the Orange and Blue to secure the sweep of the Bears.

The match on Sunday is the final contest of a three-match home stand for Florida. UF takes next weekend off in preparation for some big matches on the west coast in two weeks, involving current No. 1 California and No. 14 Stanford.
 
Last Time with the Tigers

Florida and Clemson squared off last season on Feb. 6, 2016 at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The Gators lost the doubles point, but were able to grab six singles victories to take the match over the Tigers, 4-3. UF got singles victories from Austin, Keegan and Kuhlman. Woolcock would clinch the match for the Orange and Blue with a three set victory over Tristen Dewar where a tie-break was needed in the final set.

Series History Against Clemson University
The Gators hold an undefeated all-time record against the Tigers at 23-0.
 
UF vs. ACC Opponents
Florida owns a 191-31 record against ACC opponents, including a 84-8 record at the Ring.
 
Just Getting Started
USC was just the first of five consecutive matches where UF will face an opponent ranked in the Top-30 of the ITA team rankings. The Gators stay home this weekend to face Baylor (29) and Clemson (20). UF will cap the five match run on the west coast with a pair of Pac-12 opponents in California (1) and Stanford (14).
 
The Streak
The Ring Tennis Complex has seen quite a few wins during its time as home to the Gator women's tennis team. In fact, it has seen 484 Gator victories, including a current 150 dual match win streak. The streak is the longest active home winning streak at the Division I level.
