Florida's first day of the outdoor season featured two winners and two all-time top 10 marks
ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Florida track and field program opened its outdoor campaign on a high note Friday (March 18) afternoon at the Black & Gold Challenge, hosted by the University of Central Florida.
In his collegiate debut, freshman Anders Eriksson took the hammer throw title, posting a top mark of 69.83 meters, the No. 2-ranked throw in program history. Redshirt freshman AJ McFarland logged a 60.66-meter hurl, ranking him No. 6 on Florida's all-time outdoor top 10. McFarland took third place in the event.
Megan Reed made her track debut for the Gators, claiming the title in the javelin throw. Reed's winning throw of 42.30 meters ranks No. 15 among all Division I throwers this season.
Florida wraps up competition at the Black & Gold Challenge on Saturday (March 19) afternoon.
