Gators look for SEC Title No. 10 in Little Rock Saturday

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark-. – The nation's most competitive gymnastics conference championship is up next for the Florida Gators. The 36th edition of the Southeastern Conference Championships are set for Saturday, March 19 in the Verizon Arena in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Half of the nation's top-10 teams (No. 2 Florida, No. 3 LSU, No. 4 Alabama, No. 6 Auburn and No. 8 Georgia) are among the SEC's eight-team field.
The SEC Championships' format consists of two four-team sessions. Teams seeded No. 5-8 (based on March 14 regional qualifying scores) compete in Saturday's opening session at 2 p.m. ET followed by seeds 1-4 at 6 p.m. ET. Scores from the two sessions are combined to determine the team and event champions. As the top seed in the evening session, Florida earned the Olympic rotation (vault-bars-beam-floor) for the competition.

Gators' in Last Week's Action:
Florida finished 2016 regular-season action by posting the nation's third-highest total of the season to take a 198.05-193.725 win over North Carolina on March 11 in front of a Stephen C. O'Connell Center crowd of 7,039.
Two Gators added to their season's perfect marks as sophomore Alex McMurtry anchored Florida's uneven bars lineup with her second 10.0. She is the nation's only gymnast to earn a 10.0 on bars in 2016. Senior Bridget Sloan's final routine in the O'Connell Center was a floor exercise 10.0. She's scored two perfect beam marks earlier this season and her career 10.0 total stands at a team-record eight. McMurtry, Sloan and sophomore Kennedy Baker shared the vault win at 9.925.
Sloan equaled the nation's top all-around total for the second time (39.775) to take her sixth win of the season. Three have turned in that total in 2016 – Sloan is the only one to record it in multiple outings. Sloan's wins move her to second on Florida's career charts for event (88) and all-around (24) wins.
Sloan and McMurtry Pick up SEC Weekly Honors:
The two Gators who earned 10.0s versus North Carolina were honored in the final SEC Weekly Awards. Sloan was named the SEC Gymnast of the Week for the sixth time and McMurtry picked up her fourth SEC Specialist Gymnast of the Week honors. At least one Gator has picked up a SEC Weekly honor in eight of the 10 weeks of the season.
Gators at the SEC Championships:
Florida and Alabama have taken the last seven SEC meet titles, with Florida claiming the 2010, 2012 and 2013 titles and Alabama taking the 2009, 2011, 2014 and 2015 wins. The Gators were third in the 2015 SEC Championships in Duluth, Georgia.
Two Gators who claimed 2015 SEC individual titles will be in action Saturday. McMurtry was among a five-way tie at 9.95 for the vault title. Sloan also used a 9.95 to win balance beam. She set the SEC Championships' record with her 10.0 bars mark to also claim that title.
