No. 2 Seed Gators Set to Begin NCAA Play with South Carolina State

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 2 seed University of Florida women's tennis team is set to begin NCAA Tournament play on Friday, May 13 at 2 p.m. ET with the South Carolina State Bulldogs. The Gators' are host to the NCAA First and Second Rounds at the Ring Tennis Complex May 13 and 14.
Florida enters the NCAA Round of 64 with an unblemished 17-0 record in the First Round. In the three weeks since the Gators captured the 2016 SEC Tournament title, Florida has continued to practice and prep for their 2016 NCAA Tournament run.
The Gators reached the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2015, but ultimately fell to the 2015 NCAA Champion Vanderbilt Commodores. The 2016 NCAA Tournament will be held in Tulsa, Okla. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, hosted by the University of Tulsa.
Last Serve with the Bulldogs
The Florida Gators swept the South Carolina State Bulldogs on May 9, 2014 in the NCAA First Round in Gainesville. After winning the doubles point, Sofie Oyen, Kourtney Keegan and Stefani Stojic sealed the win on the singles courts.
A Familiar First Round Opponent
UF has competed with the Bulldogs five times in the NCAA First Round. UF is 5-0 against South Carolina State in First Round NCAA action.
Florida as the No. 2 Seed
Florida was selected as the No. 2 overall seed in this year's NCAA Tournament. This is the eighth time UF has been the No. 2 seed. The Gators are 31-3 with three NCAA titles and one runner-up finish in program history as the No. 2 seed.

UF played 16 of its 23 matches this season against teams that were selected for the NCAA Tournament field of 64 and posted a 14-2 record against those clubs.

After extending a 16-match win streak leading up to the NCAA Tournament, the Orange and Blue went undefeated against SEC opponents to clinch the SEC Regular Season Championship and the SEC Tournament Championship in 2016. The titles were the 29th and 20th, respectively in program history.
