"We are very excited to announce that Johannes will be joining our Gator program. Johannes is a very good student and an exceptional tennis player. Johannes is developing an all court game and will thrive in our program as he is a true student of the game. Coach Merklein did a great job recruiting Johannes and made the trip to Denmark to make this happen. Johannes is very mature and knows exactly what he wants from his education both on and off the court. We look forward to helping him take his game to another level. With his dedication to working hard with a great attitude, Johannes will fit in perfectly with our team. We believe that Johannes has huge potential and will one day represent Denmark in Davis Cup. In the meantime Johannes will be an integral part of our championship program."
Along with Denmark native, Stephen Madonia of Sarasota, Fla. and David Sarkisov of Moscow, Russia will compete for the reigning SEC Tournament Champions next season.
Coach Shelton on the Class of 2016
"We have signed a tremendous incoming class for 2016. Each of these young men are high character individuals that embody the core values we embrace. They chose Florida because they understand that an education from this great university will set them apart. These young men have great integrity and a desire to reach towards their potential both on and off the court. They will transition well to the team environment here and will represent Gator Nation with passion and pride. We are committed to helping them with their pursuits and look forward to building a relationship for life."
