Gainesville, Fla. – University of Florida sophomore Sam Horsfield completed match play Saturday at the 2016 Western Amateur at Knollwood Golf Club in Lake Forest, Ill. as the runner-up.
Horsfield claimed the individual medal on Thursday, after dominating the field and carding a -15 (63-75-67-64-269) to win by nine strokes. Horsfield tied the Knollwood Club course record with his first round score of -8 (63) on Tuesday.
The 2016 Western Amateur match play winner was University of Illinois junior Dylan Meyer.
Also in play at the Western Amateur for the Orange and Blue were sophomores Jorge Garcia and Gordon Neale, junior Alejandro Tosti, and incoming freshman Andy Zhang.
