Florida faces Kentucky Thursday

Florida soccer continues Southeastern Conference play this Thursday versus Kentucky. The match is set for 5 p.m. at Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium in Daytona Beach, Fla. 
 
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida soccer continues Southeastern Conference play this Thursday versus Kentucky. The match is set for 5 p.m. at Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium in Daytona Beach, Fla. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students (6-18). UF students admitted free.
 
  • Three Southeastern Conference matches remain for each team. Florida is fourth in the league standings with 15 points off its 5-2 SEC record. Kentucky is tied for ninth with six SEC points and will be looking for a win to preserve a spot among the 10 teams advancing to the SEC Tournament 
  • Four of the last nine meetings between these two teams went to overtime – included the last two. Florida owns a 20-4-3 advantage in the all-time series. 
  • This match relocated Tuesday to the Embry-Riddle campus. It is the first neutral site for a SEC regular-season match in Florida's 23-year history.

Gators in Sunday's Action:
Auburn was good on its only shot on goal, claiming a 1-0 win over Florida on Sunday. After a scoreless opening half that saw several opportunities for the Gators, the Tigers took the lead in the 53rd minute. Alyssa Malonson's through ball found Kristen Dodson making a slanted run in the box. Dodson's right-footed shot to the near post scored from six yards.
 
For the match, Florida led 14-5 in shots, including seven on frame. Auburn has taken four of its last five meetings with Florida, including three consecutive.
 
About the Kentucky Wildcats:
Florida and Kentucky have played four common opponents – Florida State (UF & UK losses), Auburn (UF & UK losses), Vanderbilt (UF win, UK loss) and Missouri (UF & UK wins). Two of Kentucky's losses came against top-15 teams – then No. 15 Florida State (4-0) and then No. 3 South Carolina (1-0).
 
Miranda Jimenez leads the Wildcats in points (9) and shares the goals lead (3) with fellow freshman Eva Mitchell.
 
Ian Carry is in his first season as the Wildcats' head coach.
