Monday, November 20, 2017 | Men's Tennis
ORLANDO, Fla. – On Monday the United States Tennis Association announced the schedule for the 2018 College MatchDay event being held at the USTA National Campus at Lake Nona in Orlando. Florida's rivalry with Florida State will headline the event on Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.
The National Campus' 1,200-seat collegiate stadium, the only off-campus stadium in America built specifically for college tennis, will host 14 of the country's premier NCAA Division I tennis programs, beginning on Sat., Feb. 3, when the Florida and Florida State men and women play simultaneously on both sides of the Campus' 12-court stadium.
"Last year, College MatchDay cemented itself as the bowl series of college tennis, with marquee matches and elite programs," said USTA Collegiate Tennis Director Stephen Amritraj. "It is quickly turning the USTA National Campus into the 'Home of College Tennis,' with a devoted fan base and incredible atmosphere."
Admission to the event will be free for each match and will feature kids activities, live music, specialty food and drinks, games and giveaways. Fans can reserve their free tickets beginning on Jan. 12. For more information on tickets click HERE.
This will be the second year of the College MatchDay event and the second-consecutive year that Florida has played Florida State under the lights in Orlando. Last year's match between Florida and FSU drew 1,756 fans, which was the highest-attended regular season match in the NCAA last year.
"We are really looking forward to participating in another College Match Day event this coming season," head coach Bryan Shelton said. "The USTA did a fabulous job promoting our match last year, and the atmosphere was electric. To be able to play simultaneously with our Women's team will bring an added fun element this time. Televising these matches gives our sport the exposure it deserves."
