GAINESVILLE, Fla.—Florida got back to its winning ways Friday night, defeating Seton Hall 8-0 at McKethan Stadium. The shutout was the Gators' fourth of the season.
 
The series continues Saturday with a doubleheader. Game one is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. with the second game to follow 30 minutes after game one concludes.

Starting pitcher Alex Faedo went six innings, shutting out the Pirates while striking out six batters. With the run-free outing, the junior extended his scoreless streak to 21.2 innings.
 
The Gators plated two runs in the first inning when JJ Schwarz belted a home run to left-center field, his second of the year. It was the second at-bat in a row that Schwarz had hit a home run. The junior's two RBIs put him in second on the team with nine on the season.
 
On the home run, Dalton Guthrie scored his team-leading 11th run of the year. The junior would push that run total to 12 on the season in the second inning, crushing a two-run home run to left field, his first of the season.
 
Guthrie's three hits on Friday night pushed his season total to a team-leading 18 on the year. He has reached base in 13 of the 15 games this season, tied for a team high.
 
Freshman Keenan Bell added to the home run total in the fifth inning, hitting a solo shot over the scoreboard in right field.
 
Friday was the second time this season Florida hit three home runs in one game, the first coming against William & Mary on Feb. 19.
 
Two more runs would cross for the Gators in the seventh inning after an errant throw by the Pirates' shortstop allowed Jonathan India and Bell to score.
 
India's double in the first inning was his fifth of the year, best on the team. Austin Langworthy notched his team-high 14th walk of the season in the third inning.
 
Three Gators picked up steals Friday night. It was the third time this season Florida had three or more steals in one game and the team's fifth multi-steal game. At the plate, the Gators tallied 11 hits (third-highest total of the season) and scored eight runs (tied for second-most on the year).
 
Seton Hall's starter Shane McCarthy threw 6.2 innings, allowing six runs on 10 hits while striking out two. The loss was McCarthy's third of the season.
 
The series against Seton Hall will conclude with a double-header Saturday at McKethan Stadium with the first game beginning at 4 p.m.

"We swung the bats well and I think eight of nine starters got hits, we had really good approaches and we didn't chase out of the zone much and got a quality start from Alex (Faedo). We got some guys who hadn't pitched in a while out there, so overall it was a really nice win. It was clean for the most part. It was a normal Friday night deal for us, Alex has been good all year for us."
