Joseph Makes Canadian National Team, Three Gators Vying for USA World Junior Team

Shainah Joseph made her third Canadian National Team Tuesday morning
OTTAWA, Ont. – Rising redshirt senior Shainah Joseph earned a spot on the Canadian Women's National Team, Volleyball Canada announced Tuesday (May 16) morning. Additionally, with the United States' victory at the U20 Pan American Cup, three Gators will have a chance to make USA Volleyball's FIVB U20 World Championships team.
Team Canada will compete in Group 2 of the FIVB World Grand Prix, one of the sport's premier international tournaments, from July 21-23. They will face Czech Republic, Germany, and Peru, with matches taking place in Richmond, B.C.
Leading up to the team's participation in the Pan American Cup (June 15-26) in Peru, Team Canada will train and play in Anaheim, Calif. with the U.S. women's team from June 12-14, according to Volleyball Canada's release.
This will be Joseph's third stint with Team Canada. The Ottawa, Ont. native represented her home country at the 2015 Pan American Cup, as well as the 2016 Pan American Cup and FIVB Grand Prix.
Hammons, Kramer, Sokolowski chase FIVB U20 World Championships roster spots
Incoming freshman Paige Hammons helped the U.S. Junior Women's National Team to a gold medal and undefeated record at last week's U20 Pan American Cup.
The title qualified the United States for the FIVB U20 World Championships, set to be held July 14-23 in Mexico.
Along with Hammons, rising sophomore Rachael Kramer and rising redshirt freshman Mia Sokolowski will have a chance to earn Team USA spots for the FIVB U20 World Championships.
Three More Gators Representing Team USA
Earlier this month, rising senior and three-time All-American Rhamat Alhassan and 2016 Olympian Kelly Murphy were added to the training roster for the U.S. Women's National Team.
Murphy, a four-time All-American with the Gators from 2008-11, most recently helped the national team to a bronze medal at the Rio Olympics last August. Alhassan won a bronze medal at the Pan American Cup with the U.S. Women's National Team last July.
Additionally, rising sophomore Darrielle King earned a spot on USA Volleyball's Collegiate National Team that will compete in Minneapolis.
According to the official announcement, the CNT-Minneapolis squad, which is part of USA Volleyball's High Performance pipeline and considered a second tryout for the U.S. Women's National Team, will train from June 22-26 at the University of Minnesota.
Afterward, the athletes will be assigned to one of three 12-member teams and compete in a round-robin format at the Minneapolis Convention Center from June 27-30. The matches are in conjunction with the USA Volleyball Girls' Junior National Championships under the same roof.
