ATHENS, Ga. – Sophomore
Brian Berdusco and Junior
Johannes Ingildsen have advanced to the semifinals of the doubles draw at the ITA Regional Championships.
The pair battled Alvaro Fernandez Horta and Mehdi Laalej of Florida Atlantic University and won 8-6 to continue on through the draw. Berdusco and Ingildsen remain as the only Gators left in regional competition.
Tuesday is the last day of play at the ITA Regional Championships. Berdusco and Ingildsen will play Miami's Francisco Bastias and Bojan Jankukovski in the semifinal doubles match and the winner will advance to the championship match scheduled immediately following. Doubles play will follow the singles and consolation finals, scheduled for 9 a.m. ET.
Florida went into Monday's play with three singles quarterfinalists and three doubles quarterfinalists.
Duarte Vale,
Andy Andrade and
Johannes Ingildsen all lost in straight-set sweeps.
McClain Kessler and Vale's tournament came to an end with an 8-6 loss to Felipe Escobar and Mateo Ruiz of Florida Gulf Coast, while Andrade and
Lukas Greif battled Sebastian Arcila and Alex Knaff, but lost 8-6 [4].

"As a whole, we didn't have one of our better days. We came out flat and the competition was too good to overcome that. We have to get stronger physically and mentally to be able to have success deep in tournament play. We'll respond and get better."
