
Florida Set to Face Georgia on Sunday

Second-place Gators take on 10th-place Georgia at 2 p.m. on the SEC Network

ATHENS, Ga. – The 13th-ranked Florida Gators hit the road for a matchup with Georgia on Sunday.
The match will air on the SEC Network, with Sam Gore and Dain Blanton on the call. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
Florida (22-5, 13-2) currently sits second in the SEC, while Georgia is 10th with an overall record of 13-13 and a 4-11 record in conference play.
This is the second of four matches this week for the Gators – UF topped LSU on Friday night 3-0. The team then travels to Tennessee for a Wednesday evening match and returns home on Friday for senior night with South Carolina.
The Gators hold the 63-9 series advantage over the Bulldogs, including a 60-1 record under Mary Wise.
Florida won the last meeting in a tough five-set battle on Nov. 7, 2018 in Gainesville, Fla. UF took the first set, 25-13, then dropped both sets two and three, 25-22. The Gators battled back to win the fourth set, 25-21 to force a deciding fifth set. Florida took over the fifth frame, winning 15-9.
The blocking proved to be the determining factor for Florida, with the Gators racking up 20 as a team. That mark is the third-highest total this season thus far.
Taelor Kellum posted a then career-high 12 blocks in the match and Mia Sokolowski also posted a career-best eight blocks during the afternoon.
With 17 kills on the afternoon, Holly Carlton paced the Gators' offense. Paige Hammons added 13 kills and Thayer Hall pitched in 11 to secure to the victory for the Gators.
The Monserez sisters combined for 48 assists on the day, with Allie Monserez dishing out 29 and Marlie Monserez pitching in 19.
Florida is looking to continue its streak of winning at least 23 matches in a season, which they have done for 28 consecutive years.
