Gators Host Florida State Tuesday in Sunshine Showdown

GAINESVILLE, Fla.--The Florida baseball team will host seventh-ranked Florida State on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. in the first Fresh from Florida Sunshine Showdown of the 2018 season.

The Gators enter the matchup having won 10 of the last 11 meetings between the two schools. Florida swept all three games last season.

SERIES HISTORY

FSU leads the all-time series 128-115-1 but the Gators lead the series in Gainesville 61-48. Head coach Kevin O'Sullivan is 22-16 against Florida State.

The Gators' pitching staff had its best weekend of the year, allowing just two earned runs over 27.0 innings against Rhode Island (0.67 ERA). UF allowed just two extra base hits (2B, HR) and 11 total hits, limiting the Rams to a .129 batting average.
Junior Michael Byrne has yet to allow a run this year, pitching 11.0 scoreless innings. He ended last season with 7.0 scoreless innings, bringing his scoreless streak to 18.0 total innings.
