
Dressel Wins Silver at Phillips 66 Nationals

Dressel Places Second in 50 Fly.
IRVINE, Calif. – On the second day of competition at the Phillips 66 Nationals, Caeleb Dressel posted the highest finish of the day. Dressel placed the highest out of all the athletes who represented Florida.
Dressel, a recent graduate, tied for the fastest prelim time of 23.33. He bested that time in the A Final, as he swam a 22.97 on the way to a second-place finish.
Gator great Conor Dwyer posted the third-fastest time in the prelims of the 200-meter freestyle. He followed it up with a third-place finish in the A Final, with a mark of 1:46.08. Incoming freshman Trey Freeman qualified with the eighth-fastest time and swam a 1:48.20 in the A Final, on his way to an eighth-place finish overall.
In the B Finals of the men's 200-meter freestyle, Maxime Rooney finished second in the heat and ninth overall, with a time of 1:47.20. Kieran Smith swam 1:48.27, good for seventh in the B Final and 15th overall. In the C Final, Gator Alum Mitch D'Arrigo placed third with a time of 1:49.09.
Clark Beach set a personal-record with a swim of 1:57.06 in the 200-meter backstroke. Clark Beach earned a spot in the A Finals, where he placed fourth with a mark of 1:57.41. Ethan Beach collected a fourth-place finish in the C Final with a time of 2:01.65.
Incoming freshman Vanessa Pearl notched the 11th-best time in the women's 200-meter breaststroke. In the B Final, she took nearly a full second off of her prelim time in the final's swim. Her time of 2:26.69 is a new personal-best and earned her a first-place finish.
Chandler Bray recorded a 22nd-place finish in the men's 200-meter breaststroke. Bray finished sixth in the C Final.
