SEC Leaders - Florida and No. 12 Texas A&M - Meet Sunday

Two of the unbeaten teams in early Southeastern Conference play - Florida and No. 12 Texas A&M - meet Sunday at the Donald R. Dizney Stadium.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Three Southeastern Conference soccer teams are unbeaten in league play – and two meet Sunday at the Donald R. Dizney Stadium as Florida plays host to No. 12 Texas A&M.

Last Week's Gator Matches:
Florida enters Sunday's match after two one-goal wins in last week's league play. Florida started with a tight 3-2 win over Missouri on Sept. 26 at Dizney Stadium. Vanessa Kara scored the Gators' opening goal in the 18th minute, tapping in Sammie Betters' cross for her team-leading sixth goal of the season. In the 53rd minute, Deanne Rose took the Cassidy Lindley through ball, moved past her defender and into the box, scoring on a right-footed 15-yard shot. The Tigers' scored in the 66th minute when Macy Trujillo hit from 15 yards off a cross from Sarah Luebbert. Parker Roberts scored off a give-and-go with freshman Laney Steed, hitting a 20-yard right footed shot. Luebbert successfully converted a penalty kick in the 82nd minute to end the scoring for the match.
 
Florida finished September play Sunday with a 1-0 win at then No. 15 Vanderbilt. The only goal came in the 38th minute. Madison Alexander's through ball found Cassidy Lindley making a run down the center of the field. Her right-footed 16-yard angled shot scored at the far post for Lindley's third goal of the season. Junior Susi Espinoza did her part to preserve the Gators' fifth shutout of the season, making the point-blank stop of VU's Haley Hopkins header in the 90th minute.
 
Last Meeting Between Gators versus Texas A&M:
These two teams last met in 2017 SEC Tournament semifinal action, with the Aggies taking a 2-1 overtime win. Florida scored first at 29:01 off a 25-yard low strike by Sarah Troccoli. Aggie Rheagan Smith tied the match in the 69th minute with a 12-yard shot. The game-winner came at 96:44 when a clearance attempt went off a Gator defender to score for the Aggies.
 
About the TAMU Aggies:
Texas A&M is 3-0 in league play, outscoring opponents 11-1. The 32 TAMU goals this season is the nation's No. 4 total through Sept. 29 play. The Aggies split in their two meetings versus top-20 teams – 3-2 win at then No. 13 Santa Clara and 2-0 loss at then No. 10 BYU.
 
Junior Jimena Lopez leads TAMU in assists (11 - NCAA leader) and points (23). Senior All-American Ally Watt's eight goals is tops on the team. Freshman Shantel Hutton leads the three Aggie goalkeepers. She owns a GAA of 0.43 and her seven solo shutouts ranks among the nation's leaders.
 
G Guerrieri has been Texas A&M's head coach for each of the program's 27 seasons.
