TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Gators opened the 2019 Bedford Cup in strong fashion, as junior Andy Andrade and sophomore Greyson Cacciatore both advanced to the quarterfinals of their respective singles draws in Tallahassee on Friday. Despite the success in singles, Andrade and Blaise Bicknell fell into the Doubles A consolation draw, while Bicknell also slipped into Singles A consolation play with an opening round loss.
 
Despite dropping doubles to start the morning, No. 31 Andy Andrade opened singles competition facing USF's Antonio Muniz in the Singles A draw, picking up a decisive 6-3, 6-2 win to move into the round of 16. Andrade then met FAU's Alvaro Fernandez Horta, who proved to be more of a challenge, as Horta would come out the gates competing hard, though, Andrade managed to claim the first set in tiebreak, 7-6 (2). Andrade would then go on to control the remainder of the match, dropping Horta 6-3 in the second set to secure a spot in Saturday's quarterfinals.
 
Andy will go on to face FGCU's Felipe Ramirez in the Singles A quarterfinals tomorrow.
 
Greysen Cacciatore picked up his first singles victory of the fall slate on Friday, as he would open competition in the Singles B draw with a first round bye before seeing UCF's Saiteja Mopuri in the round of 16. Cacciatore would then down Mopuri in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, to move into the Singles B quarterfinals on Saturday, where he'll face UNF's Charley Castaing.
 
Freshman Blaise Bicknell found himself a challenge in the opening round of the Single A draw, slated against UCF's No. 84 Alan Rubio. After dropping the first set to Rubio, 6-3, Bicknell would show fight in the second, though, Rubio proved to have the hot hand in finishing the match, 6-3, 6-4. He'll go on to face USF's Rithvik Bollipalli in tomorrow's Singles A consolation round.
 
Andy Andrade and Blaise Bicknell teamed up in competing in the Doubles A draw to start the morning, seeing FAU's Fernandez Horta and Maxime Lapraille in the first round. The Owls' duo would go on to claim an 8-4 victory over the Gators, as Andrade and Bicknell slip into the Doubles A consolation draw to face USF's Rithvik Bollipalli and Niels Van Noord Saturday morning.
