Andrade, Cacciatore Notch Finals Appearances at Bedford Cup

Andy Andrade and Greysen Cacciatore feature in the finals of their respective singles draws.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – While the likes of teammates Sam Riffice and Oliver Crawford featuring in finals matchups at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., Andy Andrade and Greysen Cacciatore have also notched Championship Sunday appearances, reaching the finals of their respective singles draw at the Bedford Cup in Tallahassee. The Gators went unbeaten in all competition on Saturday, as freshman Blaise Bicknell collected a win in consolation singles play, while he and Andrade also picked up a doubles consolation win.

Andrade and Bicknell would kick off Saturday's competition in winning fashion, as the duo would meet USF's Rithvik Bollipalli and Niels Van Noord in the first round of doubles consolations. The two pairs traded blows throughout the whole way, before the Gators would take the edge in tiebreak, 8-7 (5).

Singles competition ensued after doubles, as Andrade and Greysen Cacciatore geared up for their semifinals matchups in the Singles A and Singles B draws respectively.

No. 31 Andrade competed against USF's Pierre Luquet, as Luquet would put up fight in the first set, though, he came up short to Andrade, 7-6 (1). After grinding out the win in the first set, Andrade then dominated Luquet in the second to earn a 7-6 (1), 6-1 decision to advance to Sunday's Singles A finals.

Meanwhile, Bicknell met USF's Bollipalli again, this time in the consolation singles draw, as the freshman put himself back in the singles win column with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.

Cacciatore would see all he could handle in Florida State's Sebastian Arcila, as the two engaged in an epic three-set battle that would include a lengthy tiebreaker to secure the spot in Sunday's finals. Greysen came out strong, taking the first set (6-4), before Arcila returned the favor, 6-4, in the second set. Forcing a third set, Cacciatore and Arcila traded point for point up until Greysen would finally manage to come away with the tiebreak win, 19-17.

"It was an epic battle," said head coach Bryan Shelton. "He [Greysen} did a great job with attitude, effort and energy. We had another great day of competition. The Bedford Cup is a great event!"
