The senior forward has contributed more than 180 community service hours since fall of 2018.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The 2019 Southeastern Conference Soccer Community Service Team includes Florida redshirt senior Alyssa Howell. The league office announced the 14 representatives today as 2019 regular-season play concludes on Halloween.
The SEC takes submissions based on the good deeds and volunteering that the student athletes do around the community while at their respective schools.
Howell's Community Service:
Since the fall of 2018, Howell participated in six different community service activities for a total of 184 hours. These philanthropic activities include visiting Baby Gators to play with the children, participating in the Gators' 2018 Homeless Donation Drive and delivering footwear for the Gator Student-Athletes annual Gator Tracks shoe drive for area elementary children.
Howell aspires to be a veterinarian. The majority of her volunteer hours were earned at the Dr. Custis Veterinary Hospital where she assisted the veterinarian, ran different tests, prepped patients and monitored patients post sedation. She also volunteered at the Alachua County Humane Society and at Victoria Farms, which also provides veterinarian services. At Victoria Farms, she assisted with the veterinarian's work with cattle, monitored calves, rans tests and helped groom horses.
Next for Florida:
Florida concludes SEC regular-season play Thursday at Georgia. The Bulldogs are in the midst of a four-match unbeaten streak, tying No. 6 Arkansas 1-1 double overtime in their last match held Sunday in Fayetteville, Ark.
Both teams will be looking for points in the Halloween meeting:
