Knee Injury to Sideline Rainey

Women’s basketball guard Danielle Rainey sustained knee injury last week.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Florida women's basketball guard Danielle Rainey will miss the 2019-20 season after sustaining a knee injury during a team scrimmage last week.
Rainey, who averaged 8.2 points per game a season ago, suffered an ACL injury in a closed-door scrimmage this past Saturday.
After joining the team at the semester, the redshirt-junior averaged 9.5 points per game during the conference season, the second-highest total on the team. She started nine games and totaled seven double-figure scoring efforts.
The Washington, D.C. native began her career at TCU, where she played a season and a half before joining the Gators in January of 2018. Due to NCAA transfer rules, Rainey was forced to sit out the 2017-18 spring semester and the 2018-19 fall semester.
Rainey is one of four upperclassmen on the roster this season.
UF opens its 2019-20 slate tonight with an exhibition matchup vs. Valdosta State at 6 p.m. at Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
