LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. –The University of Florida women's tennis team completed a successful second day of competition at the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic Saturday as sophomore
Marlee Zein advanced to tomorrow's singles and doubles finals with a total of three victories.
Zein dispatched Appalachian State's Sandra Anglesjo, 6-3, 6-0 in the quarterfinals and defeated Alana Wolfberg of Oklahoma State, 6-2, 6-3 in the semifinals to vault herself into Sunday's title tilt. The sophomore is set to take on Oklahoma's Marcelina Podlinska Sunday morning.
The Sugar Land, Texas native also achieved success on the doubles circuit as she and
Tsveta Dimitrova teamed up for victory over UCF's
Nandini Sharma and
Domenika Turkovich in the semifinal round. The Gator duo fought hard and edged the Knight combo, 8-7 (9) to secure a spot in Sunday's final where they will take on
Chloe and Ellie Kuckelman of Nebraska.
Dimitrova and
Sydney Berlin also added wins in consolation singles play.
Play begins Sunday with the singles championship followed by the doubles finale.
