Eight Different Gators Ranked In ITA Preseason Women’s Tennis Rankings

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The ITA released its 2026-27 individual preseason rankings today, and the Florida Women's Tennis Team has six players ranked in the top 100 in singles, three of the top 65 doubles tandems, and the tenth-ranked newcomer of the year.
Leading the way on the singles side of the ledger is transfer Jana Hossam who joined the Gators during the offseason after two years and an All-American sophomore campaign for the University of Southern California. Hossam is ranked No. 11 in the nation after finishing the 2025-26 season ranked No. 25.
Senior Valery Gynina, who played at number one and two singles a year ago for the Gators, finished the season ranked No. 30 in the nation, and enters the 2026-27 campaign ranked No. 17 in the country. She went 10-3 in dual match play and 19-9 overall as a junior.
Junior Gabia Paskauskas starts off the season ranked No. 30 in the preseason rankings after concluding 2025-26 as the 57th-ranked player in the nation. She logged most of her time at number three singles for the Gators, and went 19-9 overall in her first season in Gainesville.
Sophomore Lucy Pawlak led Florida with a 22-10 record in 2025-26, posting a team-best nine wins against SEC competition. She begins the season ranked No. 68 in the country, up from No. 111 at the end of her freshman year.
Fellow sophomore Brooke Black joined the Gators for the spring semester last year, and her seven conference victories were the second most on the team. She was ranked as high as No. 123 in the country, and enters her second season in Florida at No. 82.
Lastly, freshman Allegra Korpanec Davies is ranked No. 98 in the nation in singles and has been tapped as the 10th-ranked newcomer in the country.
On the doubles side, Black and Gynina moved up from No. 44 in the nation a year ago to No. 6 at the start of this season. They closed out the 2025-26 campaign with four straight wins, and victories in six of their last seven matches, including a pair of wins against top 20 teams.
Junior Nikola Daubnerova and Pawlak are expected to start the season paired together as a doubles team, and they are No. 26 in the preseason rankings. Daubnerova and the since-graduated Xinyi Nong were No. 20 in the nation at the end of last season. Pawlak partnered with graduate student India Houghton a year ago, and they went a team-best 8-4 in the SEC.
Korpanec Davies and fellow freshman Capucine Jauffret are ranked No. 65 to begin the year.
Florida finished the 2025-26 season ranked No. 18 in the nation, and lost just two Gators this year to graduation. They also have midseason transfer Scarlett Nicholson moving to the active roster this fall. The junior, who was ranked 16th in the nation in singles in August of 2025, had to sit out the spring season due to NCAA transfer rules.
