Brooks Set to Turn Pro in 2020

Sierra Brooks has announced that she will join the Symetra Tour in 2020, foregoing her senior season.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Following a notable run at LPGA Q-School, senior Sierra Brooks has chosen to forego her final semester at Florida and begin her professional career, joining the Symetra Tour for the 2020 season.
"I am beyond grateful for the opportunities and experiences UF has given me," said Brooks. "Having access to first-class facilities for school and golf, along with my coaches' expertise, team comradery and playing in the best collegiate events around the country has allowed me to grow to the point where I'm ready to take the next step in my career."
Brooks becomes the most recent Florida women's golfer to turn pro, and will join past Gators Karolina Vlckova (2013-17), Samantha Wagner (2015-17) and Anna Young (2012-15) on the Symetra Circuit. Eventually, Brooks looks to join UF alumni Sandra Gal (2004-07) and Maria Torres (2013-17) on the LPGA Tour.
"We are so appreciative of all Sierra has done for our program and the University of Florida," said head coach Emily Glaser. "We are sad to see her go, however we are confident she has a bright future ahead as a professional."
It was evident that Brooks would be able to compete at the next level immediately after her addition to Florida's roster in 2017. Brooks became the first player in program history to win two individual titles in her first three starts for the Gators. That year, she also notched the second-lowest scoring average in school history with a 72.03.
During her junior season, Brooks finished as the runner-up at the NCAA Championships, becoming UF's first medalist in the event since 2003. That year also brought about a record-breaking 62 at the Cougar Classic, on her way to leading the team with a 72.59 scoring average.
Most recently, Brooks produced a sensational fall season for the Gators. The senior was nearly flawless, finishing within the top five individually in all three of her appearances. The Orlando, Fla., native concluded fall with an outstanding 70.33 scoring average, carding eight under-par rounds, to put her on pace to set the lowest season scoring average in program history.
It is undeniable the immense impact that Brooks has had on the Florida women's golf program and will continue to have as she prepares for the 2020 Symetra Tour and beyond.
