Gators Wrap First Day of SEC Championships

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Florida men's golf team played the first round of stroke play today at the SEC Championships. They currently sit 13th on the leaderboard.

Sophomore John Axelsen had the best day for the Gators, carding an opening-round 70. Senior Gordon Neale finished his first round +2 with a 72. Axelsen and Neale narrowly escaped bogey trouble with the help of a couple birdies throughout their rounds. Florida will return to the course tomorrow morning to improve their standings before the final round of stroke play Friday.

The second round of stroke play begins first thing Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. (ET). The Gators tee times will begin at 8:10 off hole #10.
