DES MOINES, Iowa – Florida track and field will be represented at this week's Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships by 17 Gators, including two-time Olympic gold medalist and two-time reigning IAAF World Championships gold medalist Christian Taylor, reigning World Championships and Olympic silver medalist Will Claye, and 2019 The Bowerman finalist Grant Holloway.
Competitors at USATF Outdoors are vying for spots at this fall's World Championships, scheduled for Sept. 28 through Oct. 6 in Doha, Qatar.

Taylor's spot for World Championships is already secure, as he is the reigning world champion.
Claye will attempt the long jump-triple jump double. The three-time Olympic medalist and 2017 World Championships silver medalist is this year's world leader in the triple jump, with his career-best mark of 18.14 meters ranking him No. 3 on the world all-time list and being the fourth-farthest jump in history. He sits seven centimeters behind Taylor, his former Florida teammate, on the world all-time list. Claye also ranks third among Americans in the long jump this year.
Holloway is fresh off a collegiate career which saw him become the first man in history to sweep the indoor and outdoor high hurdles NCAA titles three consecutive years. The Chesapeake, Va., native broke Renaldo Nehemiah's 40-year-old collegiate record to win his third straight 110-meter hurdles title this past June, and he broke a 32-year-old American record to win his third straight 60-meter hurdles title this past March.
Holloway's collegiate record of 12.98 seconds is the world-leading 110 hurdles time. Holloway has yet to make a senior national team.
Other Gators seeking return appearances to the World Championships are 2016 Olympic gold medalists Kerron Clement (400-meter hurdles) and Tony McQuay (400 meters), 2017 World Championships finalist TJ Holmes (400-meter hurdles), 2013 and 2015 top-five World Championships finisher Omar Craddock (triple jump), 2017 World Championships 4x100 relay pool member Kyra Jefferson (200 meters), and 2013 World Championships qualifier Cory McGee (1,500 meters).
