Florida in 2019 Opening Weekend of Play
Deanne Rose scoring twice, providing the golden goal in the 95th minute. Sophomore Cassidy Lindley also hit a 35-yard strike – the longest of her soccer career.

Sunday in Tampa, the Gators faced both a ranked opponent and a record crowd. Florida shut out preseason No. 18 South Florida 2-0 in front a women's program record Corbett Stadium crowd of 2,011. The Gators scored twice in just over a five-minute span in the second half – with Rose playing a part in each goal. She moved the ball down the left side and sent the ball across the front of the goal where Kit Loferski tapped it in at the far post. Then in the 57th minute, Rose received the ball just inside the Bulls half and then headed toward goal. She beat her defender to place the ball in left of the USF goalkeeper. Susi Espinoza set her collegiate-high with eight saves at USF.

Last Time Gators-Trojans Met:
This is the second consecutive year these two programs have met. Last year at UF's Donald R. Dizney Stadium, then No. 7 USC scored three second-half goals to shut out the Gators 3-0. Two of those Trojan goal scorers – junior Savannah DeMelo and sophomore Penelope Hocking – return to the USC roster this season.

Last Time Gators-Bruins Met:
Florida and then No. 2 UCLA played to a scoreless overtime tie when the two programs met in 2018 play at Dizney Stadium. The Bruins took a 17-5 advantage in shots. It was Florida's first shutout of 2018. Then senior goalkeeper Kaylan Marckese turned in a career-high eight saves.
