
Gators Well-Represented in ITA Preseason Rankings

Women’s tennis sees four singles players, one doubles team and one newcomer recognized in individual rankings
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its Division I preseason national rankings Tuesday, and the University of Florida women's tennis team saw a total of four student-athletes represented in the inaugural issue.
No. 23 McCartney Kessler, No. 85 Marlee Zein and No. 91 Victoria Emma all appeared in the top 100 of the singles rankings while Kessler and Emma were tabbed the nation's No. 6 doubles unit. In addition to the veteran recognition, Florida also featured one on the ITA's Division I Top Freshmen/Newcomers list as Canadian standout Layne Sleeth checked in at No. 6.
Kessler, a two-time All SEC performer, finished in the ITA top 40 a season ago while Emma spent six-straight weeks ranked a season ago, but was unranked to finish the campaign. For Zein, this is her first career appearance in the national rankings.
Kessler and Emma, the highest ranked SEC duo in the rankings, paired up for a team-best seven conference victories a year ago and finished No. 18 in the final ITA doubles rankings.
Florida's fall season is in full swing as Kessler kicked competition off this past Sunday at the W15 Lubbock.
