Gators Travel to Arkansas for Razorback Invitational
Thursday, January 30, 2020 | Track and Field
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida Track and Field will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., this weekend to compete in this year's Razorback Invitational Friday and Saturday, and several Gators will enter the competition with national top-10 marks and times.
Quarter-miler Taylor Manson, who holds two top-10 spots in the Division I Indoor Qualifying list, will represent the Gators on both the 200- and 400-meters portions of the meet. The junior earned both national top-10 spots in South Carolina two weeks ago, where she crossed in 23.59 seconds in the 200 meters (No. 7 nationally) and 53.02 seconds in the 400 (No. 6 nationally).
Sophomore Doneisha Anderson will join Manson in the 400 meters on Saturday. Anderson clocked a time of 52.83 seconds at the Gamecock Opener to land at the No. 3 spot in the country for that event.
Freshman Cameron Miller, who currently sits at No. 4 nationally in the 200 meters, will look to beat his collegiate personal-best time of 20.81 seconds in Arkansas. Miller will be joined by fellow freshman Joseph Fahnbulleh, who ranks seventh in Division I with a time of 20.86 seconds.
The freshmen sprinters will close their weekend on Saturday with the 60 meters. They will be joined by senior Raymond Ekevwo, who holds the No. 4 spot in that event after clocking a time of 6.61 seconds in South Carolina.
In the hurdles, junior Cory Poole will enter the weekend tied for the No. 9 spot in the country after clocking a time of 7.76 seconds during Florida's season opener at Clemson. Poole will look to move up in the national top 10 list Saturday afternoon.
Jumper Kala Penn will kick things off for the Gators on the field events Friday. The redshirt junior, who sits at No. 7 in the nation with a mark of 13.20 meters (43 feet, 3.75 inches) in the triple jump, will headline the long jump for the Gators Friday afternoon.
Jumper Clayton Brown, who established himself as top collegian in the triple jump during the Orange and Purple Elite in Clemson (16.46 meters / 54 feet), will compete in both the high jump and triple jump events. On Friday, he will look to improve his high jump marks after logging a 2.16-meter (7 feet, 1 inch) clearance at the Gamecock Opener. He will later jump to defend his spot as NCAA triple jump leader on Saturday.
Senior Connor Bandel will step into the ring for the men's shot put portion of the weekend on Saturday after setting a new personal-best mark last week at Virginia Tech's Hokie Invitational. Bandel, who threw for 19.45 meters (63 feet, 9.75 inches) in Blacksburg, ranks third in school history and 12th in Division I.
