Gay Victorious at Bermuda Championship

The former Florida men’s golfer defeated Wyndham Clark to collect his first PGA TOUR victory since 2013.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Former Florida men's golfer Brian Gay took home the hardware at the PGA TOUR's Bermuda Championship this past weekend behind a playoff victory over Wyndham Clark.
After a late run where Gay carded seven birdies between holes 6 through 15, he secured a piece of first place following a birdie on the 18th hole, tying for the lead with Wyndham Clark.
The duo headed for a playoff to decide the final outcome, which ended up taking only one hole. After both golfers hit the green in regulation, Gay sunk a clutch putt from outside 10 feet to clinch the win after a miss from Clark.
With the win, Gay, 48, became the oldest player to win on the PGA TOUR since Davis Love III claimed the top spot at the 2015 Wyndham Championship.
Gay was a member of the Florida men's golf team from 1991 through 1994 which won four consecutive SEC championships and the 1993 NCAA Championship.
The former Gator standout earned SEC Freshman of the Year honors in 1991 and was a five-time individual medalist, two-time SEC individual champion, three-time first-team All-SEC selection and two-time All-American.
Gay was inducted into the Florida Hall of Fame in 2010 after a prolific collegiate career.
Gay turned professional in 1994 and joined the TOUR officially in 1999. His victory at the 2020 Bermuda Championship is the fifth of his professional career.
