Duo of Gators Set to Compete at Georgia Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. – Florida women's tennis will send freshmen Alicia Dudeney and Bente Spee to Athens, Ga., this weekend to represent the Gators at the Georgia Invitational.
The pair will compete as a doubles squad over the weekend, beginning on Friday, Oct. 22 at 10 a.m. ET with round one of competition. Round two is slated to begin at 11 a.m. ET on Friday before the final round on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 9 a.m. ET.
Dudeney and Spee both competed last weekend at their first ITA Southeast Regional Championships, with Dudeney making it to the doubles semi-final with teammate Sydney Berlin before falling to teammates, Carly Briggs and Marlee Zein. Her fall record now sits at 8-4 in doubles competition and 8-2 in singles, including another ranked victory over No. 94 Gia Cohen of Georgia Tech.
Spee enters the weekend holding a 5-5 singles mark and sits at 3-5 in doubles. The freshman did capture the Bedford Cup doubles title earlier this season with teammate Emma Shelton. Throughout her time at the Bedford Cup, she tallied seven total victories (four singles and three doubles).
In all, 27 players representing Central Florida, Florida, Georgia and Princeton will be competing this weekend. The tournament is slated to open with doubles competition at 10 a.m. ET on Friday morning.
