No. 18 Florida Welcomes In-State Rival No. 24 Florida State for Midweek Matchup
Monday, April 12, 2021 | Baseball
The Gators will take on Florida State for the second time this season.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 18 Florida baseball team (21-11, 6-6 SEC) hosts in-state rival No.24 Florida State (16-12, 11-10 ACC) in the finale of a two-game season matchup between the two ball clubs.
The Gators traveled to Tallahassee earlier this season, suffering a 2-10 loss at the hands of a red-hot Seminole ball club who completed a seven-game win streak before falling to Wake Forest, 2-1, on Friday, March 26.
Florida returns to Gainesville after a trip to Knoxville, Tenn., where it took on a Tennessee team who had not dropped a SEC game at home. After falling 4-6, 4-5 in the first two matchups, the Gators rallied in the final game of the series behind a stellar performance from sophomore Christian Scott, who struck out six of the 16 batters he faced. Kris Armstrong recorded the Gators winning RBI, coming in cold off the bench to punch a three-run home run over the right field fence.
First pitch between the Gators and Seminoles is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and will be aired on the SEC Network. Fans can listen in Gainesville on WRUF 850 AM/98.1 FM and in Jacksonville 1010 XL or on any mobile device via TuneIn app (https://tunein.com/radio/Florida-Baseball-s308240/ or by searching for the "Florida Baseball" station).
