Thursday, May 27, 2021 | Track and Field
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida's women earned two NCAA Outdoor Championships berths and advanced six runners Thursday at the NCAA East Preliminary in Jacksonville. The program holds four entries so far, including two earned by the men Wednesday.
Freshman Claire Bryant, who earned a silver medal at SEC Outdoors, punched her ticket to Oregon with a leap of 6.64 meters (21 feet, 9.50 inches) [+1.3] in the long jump. Her mark ranks fourth all-time in NCAA East Preliminary meet history.
Redshirt Sophomore Arianne Duarte-Morais will join Bryant in Eugene having logged a mark of 51.89 meters (170 feet, 3 inches) in the javelin.
All six runners advanced to the finals by either winning or placing in the top 3 of their respective heats.
Talitha Diggs, Taylor Manson and Doneisha Anderson all advanced in the 400 meters, while Gabrielle Wilkinson and Imogen Barrett did so in the 800. Meanwhile, redshirt freshman Grace Stark will represent the Gators in the final round of the women's 100-meter hurdles.
The women's final round is scheduled for Saturday, and it will also feature Florida's No. 1-seeded 4x400-meter relays team. The Gators finished second at SEC Outdoors with a team formed by Manson, Sterling Lester, Anderson and Diggs.
The action continues Friday from Jacksonville with the men's final round of competition.
Some of the Gators scheduled to compete in the finals include Joseph Fahnbulleh (men's 100 & 200 meters), Dedrick Vanover (men's 100 & 200 meters), Tyler Davis (200 meters) Ryan Willie (men's 400 meters) and Denzel Villaman (men's 400-meter hurdles). A full schedule for Friday is below.
