13 Gators Vying for Team USA Berths at Olympic Trials
Thursday, June 17, 2021 | Track and Field
EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Florida track and field program will see 13 current Gators and alumni compete at the United States Olympic Trials during the 10-day event (June 18-27) at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
The contingent is headlined by a slew of Gator Greats, including reigning world champion Grant Holloway, three-time Olympic medalist Will Claye and American long jump champion Marquis Dendy, among others.
NCAA Outdoors runner-up Talitha Diggs (400 meters) is also set to compete, alongside fellow teammates Taylor Manson (400 meters), Grace Stark (100-meter hurdles), Ryan Willie (400 meters) and Claire Bryant (Long Jump).
See below for a complete list of Gators and Gator Great expected to compete at this year's U.S. Olympic Trials.
The top three finishers in each event, so long as they have the Olympic qualifying standard, will automatically earn spots on Team USA for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
The games and the U.S. Olympic Trials were slated to take place last year, but were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Tokyo Games are scheduled to open on July 23.
