Four Gators snag ITA All-Academic Scholar accolades.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Four Gators – Will Grant, Lukas Greif, Sam Riffice and Ben Shelton – as well as the entire 2020-21 men's tennis team have been named to the 2021 Division I Men ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Monday morning.
The ITA All-Academic Scholar award is given to student-athletes who have a grade point average of at least a 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale). The ITA All-Academic Team honor is awarded to team's with at least a 3.20 GPA (on a 4.00 scale) and all varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA for the academic year.
This marks the third season in a row that the men's team was honored with the ITA All-Academic Team Award after maintaining an impressive 3.52 GPA off the court.
Shelton, who is studying Social and Behavioral Sciences, received his first ITA All-Academic honor after making the SEC First Year Academic Honor Roll this season. Both Grant (Political Science) and Greif (Applied Physiology and Kinesiology) are recognized as ITA All-Academic Scholar Athletes for the second season in a row. Riffice, a Political Science major, has now secured his third ITA All-Academic Scholar accolade in his career, just a week after receiving CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.
Grant, Greif and Riffice were also named to the SEC Spring Honor Roll earlier in June.
