
Summer Recap: Greif Earns Runner-Up Finish in Singles at ITA National Summer Championships

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Lukas Greif competed at the 2021 ITA National Summer Championships this past week and finished second in the singles finals as the No. 8-seed. In doing so, Greif earned a qualifying wild card bid in the ITA All-American Championships.
Greif started strong in the round of 64 as he put together a solid win over Kaisei Kuroki in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0. In the following two rounds, he defeated Charles Putrinio by the same scores of 6-2, 6-0, then won his match against Yizhou Liu, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7, to advance to the quarterfinals.
Greif kept up his win streak in the quarterfinals with a victory over Thomas Brown, 2-6, 6-4, 10-4. He would advance to the singles finals after beating Keshav Chopra, 7-6 (9-7), 6-4, in the semifinals.
Greif took on Jacob Bickersteth in the final round of singles competition, but dropped the tough match by two scores of 6-3.
During his tournament run, Greif collected an impressive overall record of 5-1 and took three matches in straight sets.
