Gators Post Nine Victories on Day Two of Gator Fall Invite

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida men's tennis team tallied an impressive nine wins on day two of the Gator Fall at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex on Saturday, Sept. 11.

The Gators split their doubles matches 2-2 to begin the day. At court one, the No. 57 doubles duo of Mattias Siimar and Abedallah Shelbayh picked up their second ranked victory of the tournament, this time against No. 49 Yannai Barkai and Braden Shick of NC State, 8-3. Lukas Greif and Josh Goodger took care of business on court four after defeating Joseph Schrader and Collin Shick, 8-5.

The pairing of Andy Andrade and Will Grant took a tough loss to Robin Catry and Damien Salvestre, 3-8, while Nate Bonetto and Ben Shelton dropped their match to Fons Van Sambeek and Martins Rocens by the same score.

In singles, No. 103 Siimar had a thrilling match against Catry, putting together a bagel in the third set to win, 1-6, 6-3, 6-0. No. 14 Andrade also collected a bagel in the final set to win his match against Salvestre, 6-2, 6-0.

No. 86 Shelton posted his first singles win of the fall season after defeating Rocens in two sets, 6-3, 6-4. No. 33 Blaise Bicknell tallied his second singles win of the tournament after beating B. Shick, 6-3, 6-4. No. 59 Goodger had an exciting, three-set victory against Sambeek as he won, 1-6, 6-4, 7-5. Bonetto won his second singles match of the Gator Fall Invite after defeating Schrader, 6-4, 6-4. Grant almost recorded Florida's third bagel of the day as he won 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 against C. Shick.

Barkai of NC State won his first set against Shelbayh, before the Gator retired in the second set down, 0-1.
