Florida Continues Fall at Mason Rudolph

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - After a third-place finish to start the season, the Florida women's golf continues the fall slate at the Mason Rudolph Championship this weekend.

LAST TIME OUT
The Gators began the season on a strong note at the Cougar Classic, finishing 3rd and 13-under as a team. It marked the fourth top-5 finish in the last four appearances at the Cougar Classic. The whole lineup also finished in the top-25 with none over par led by Annabell Fuller and Clara Manzalini who both placed T12 at 2-under.
TOURNAMENT HISTORY:
Florida appears in the 20th Mason Rudolph Championship for the first time since the fall of 2011. The Gators have played in the tournament nine total times with the best finish in 2003 at 4th.
PRESEASON RANKINGS AND RECOGNITION
The Gators were selected in two preseason polls - #19 by the GolfChannel.com and #21 by the Women's Golf Coaches Association. Additionally Annabell Fuller was ranked as the No. 23 preseason player by GolfChanel.com and was selected to the ANNIKA Award Watch List for the second straight season.
Last week Florida was ranked No. 10 in the WGCA first fall poll.
A SEASON AGO
The Gators qualified for their 21st consecutive and 26th overall NCAA Regional appearance and just missed the top-6 cut, finishing one stroke behind USC in 7th. A member of the SEC All-Freshman Team, Maisie Filler led the way with a T12 finish.
Outside of postseason play, Florida defended it's home course and claimed the sixth straight title at the Gators Invitational. Annabell Fuller turned in a career performance winning her first individual title behind her lowest round (66, -5) and tournament overall (202, -5). Marina Escobar (T12), Clara Manzalini (T12) and Jenny Kim (T15) all placed in the Top-25.
NEW GATORS
Florida welcomed two newcomers ahead of the upcoming season in freshman Ester Fägersten and transfer Jackie Lucena. Fägersten Both Gators made their debuts at the Cougar Classic with Lucena shooting 216 (E) for T24 and Fagersten 219 (+1) for T36.
THE TURN:
UF heads to the Wind City Classic in Chicago on Oct. 4-5 and concludes the fall season at The Ally at Old Waverly (Oct. 25-27).
