
Zein, Briggs Selected for ITA Women's All-American Championships

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Senior Marlee Zein and junior transfer Carly Briggs were both selected to compete in the singles qualifying draw at the ITA Women's All-American Championships as announced by the ITA on Monday morning.
The 2021 ITA Women's All-American Championships will be held in Charleston, S.C., beginning Oct. 4 through Oct 10. The main draw singles consists of 32 players: 12 regional representatives, eight qualifiers, eight returning ITA All-Americans and At-Large selections, and one ITA National Summer Championships Champion, Host Institution Wild Card, ITA Wild Card and Tulsa Wild Card.
The qualifying singles round of 64 will begin on Monday, Oct. 4, followed by the qualifying singles round of 32 and 16 on Tuesday, Oct. 5. The singles main draw is scheduled to start on Wednesday, Oct. 6.
Zein is coming off a remarkable junior season competing at No. 2 singles, where she put together a 10-9 dual match singles record and an 11-6 dual match doubles record. She held a 5-3 singles record in SEC competition, garnering herself Second-Team All-SEC recognition. Zein, along with teammate McCartney Kessler, advanced to the round of 16 at the NCAA Doubles Championships after defeating No. 13-seeded Raven Neely and Tatiana Simova of Louisville.
Briggs transferred to Florida from Tennessee for her junior season. She tallied an impressive 17 overall singles victories and 23 overall doubles victories her sophomore year. The SEC All-Newcomer honoree helped Tennessee to the NCAA Tournament and collected a win against No. 90 Rose Johanson of Virginia in the tournament.
