GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Track and Field will begin the road to Birmingham and the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships this weekend as it kicks off the 2022 Indoor Season with a trip to the loaded Clemson Invitational.
The 2021 Indoor Season saw the men take a 5th place finish at the SEC Championships followed by a 4th place finish in the NCAA Championships. The women took home the runner-up spot at the SEC Championships before finishing in 6th at the NCAA's.
The Clemson Invitational will be the debut meet for a number of new transfers to the Florida roster. All-Americans Anna Hall (Multis) and Jasmine Moore (Jumps) will both compete in the Long Jump while Hall will also participate in the 60m Hurdles, High Jump, Shot Put and 4x400 Relay.
Talitha Diggs returns after a season which saw her capture the SEC Indoor Title at 400m. Her title-winning time of 51.14 put her into 3rd all-time on Florida's Indoor Top-10 list.
Semira Killebrew (60m), Grace Stark (60m Hurdles), Diggs (200m), Gabrielle Wilkinson (800m), Claire Bryant (Long Jump) and Sterling Lester (Pent.) all sit within the top two in their respective events on the Florida Top-10 list.
Asia Smith, Lester and Hall will all compete in four or more events this weekend. The Florida women will also send two teams into the 4x400 relay.
On the men's side, transfers Collin Sieffert and Jacory Patterson will make their Gator debuts. Sieffert, who came to Florida from Minnesota, will head into the 600m and 4x400 relay. Patterson, who won four titles at Virginia Tech last season, will take his talents into the 60m and 300m.
The sprints and jumps will showcase the greatest number of Gators. Florida will send eight into the 300m and seven into the 60m this weekend.
The Clemson Invitational features top-level talent across the board. Texas, Georgia and Florida State are among the teams to compete alongside Florida and the host-Tigers.
