GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After signing seven high-caliber athletes to its 2022-2023 roster, the Florida Women's Track and Field Team and head coach Mike Holloway have put together one of the best recruiting classes in program history.
This selection of athletes includes a Pan Am Junior Champion as well as national and state champions and figures to continue the longstanding tradition of Florida Women's Track and Field that features 14 SEC Championships and one NCAA Championship.
"I am extremely excited about our incoming recruiting class," Holloway said. "We've added several athletes who are accustomed to competing at a high level and who are also accustomed to competing for championships. I am looking forward to welcoming this elite group of ladies to campus this fall"!
The 2022 class joins a program that has placed in the top seven in each of the last seven NCAA Indoor Championships. Florida has also finished in the top-10 of the NCAA Outdoor Championships six times since in the past 10 years.
The Gators signed seven prospects in total including a pair of top-10 ranked sprinters in Kayla Davis and Ramiah Elliott.
This class also features four distance runners in Caroline Bauer, Angelina Perez, Lucinda Rourke and Breanna Stuart who have combined to win state and national titles in Cross Country and Track.
This highly regarded group is rounded out by Georgia state champion and thrower Leia Williams.
The newest recruiting class only adds to the excitement and optimism building around the program. This year, Florida returns its top performer in all but one indoor and outdoor event from a season ago and features a deep and versatile 2022 roster.
The seven athletes will become eligible starting in the 2022-2023 season.
